What are you doing now Mike......

latenighthaulers 01-12-2010 01:08 PM

:iws:its a 4x4 why lower it:WTF:

covey88 01-12-2010 01:16 PM

lol well i am planning on lowering my truck phil lol!

and why lower? why lift? i mean everyone like what they like, i have never been one for the bigfoot look. plus i race motocross so to load the dirt bike up in the truck after racing all day sucks! i could be like most guys who race and buy a Toyota but i like my truck. so lowering will make it a lot easier to load up my race stuff up! plus i think it looks sweet!

love the look of this truck!

yeah but its a 4x4! :td:

PhilipR 01-12-2010 01:18 PM

I can see that so..... Looks like all you need to do is cut the front coil and then replace the rear blocks with a shorter set. Maybe some shorter shocks. Doesn't seem to hard to do.

covey88 01-12-2010 01:19 PM

lol ya but then again it is my truck! LOL

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

ya seems easy! just want to make sure i did not start this and hit a road block mid project. i mean this is my only vehicle so it can't be down long!

latenighthaulers 01-12-2010 01:21 PM

:rocking: right on.....do you have torsion bars or coils?

PhilipR 01-12-2010 01:22 PM

Shorter shocks might be the only thing. Brakes hoses won't be an issue....The only thing I can see is if you cut to much out of the coil. I'd follow the same way it was done on CompD. How much you want to drop? You could take 2" out of the back and leave the front stock and basically level the truck.

latenighthaulers 01-12-2010 01:24 PM

as long as it doesnt throw the pinion angle off

PhilipR 01-12-2010 01:26 PM

Measure it as stock and make sure you have the angle shims on hand and set it the same after you put the shorter blocks in....easy peezy.

latenighthaulers 01-12-2010 01:26 PM

you could cut the coils like duster said but dont heat them......also it may cause a lot of inside wear on your tires if you cut to much off...

Lil Red Express 01-12-2010 01:27 PM

Its a 4x4 so it has coils.

How far down ya going? We need before and after pics as well:tu:

covey88 01-12-2010 01:29 PM

i am looking for a nice 3in drop but i like the stance on the one from compD due to the fact i don't have to worry about drive shafts and all the headaches to get it really low. i just want it lower then what it is, kinda the same height as the 2 wheel drive 2500. nothing 2 crazy! plus i have a crazy small budget due to looking at buying a house!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

trust me pic will be taken!

PhilipR 01-12-2010 01:30 PM

I'd follow the CompD thread then and do exactly as he did.....you should have similar results and it should be pretty cheap to.

covey88 01-12-2010 10:32 PM

lol ya i just have to find the 1" blocks for the rears! that should be fun!:td: but have to wait till i can get it in a buddys garage! :(

FordCummins457 11-07-2010 11:09 PM

haha i race too an finally made a ramp so i could ride my bike in to the bed. sucks when you got 10inches of lift :argh:

Heavy Smoker 11-08-2010 06:48 AM
