different injection pump
 

I have a problem. I blew a hole in the back part of my pump. And i have a guy that will sell me one off of an 8.3 cummins. He sent me pics and they look exactly the same on everything and i figured the only difference might be a bigger cam and plungers. But i don't want to spend money on it since i have very little and then it not fit. It's also a p-pump and everything. I could really use ya'lls help on this. thanks.

and they have the same measurements for the bolt holes. 4 in at the top and 4 3/4 at the bottom i think they would work.

i'm not really sure it's a pump with bout 350,000 miles on it and i was going to work i hit 5th gear i heard a boom and parts falling out onto the ground. i looked at it when it got more light outside and noticed a hole and when i pulled it off the cam was broke and alot of parts were gone. it was ran without a fuel plate for bout 60,000 miles and somebody told me that was what cause some of it but who knows lol.

Well the whole fuel plate thing everybody has there opinions. some say its alright and some say its not alright. thats crazy. I run a plate because its sposed to be in there.IMO. You can get different ones with differnt profiles. but anywho.. The whole IP off an 8.3, it will most likely be a different hp rating than your engine.

well i asked another friends of mine and he said that the governor springs were probably bout the only difference. the only problem is i can't afford a new one and i have to go back to college in a week and a half 250 miles away and i need to haul my toolbox with my pickup. and since it was a p-pump i figured i could always manipulate the fuel system a little bit if i needed too. my pickup has big injectors and it's bored out and all. I figured it'd be the same as having a high performance kit in your pump

what are the numbers off the pump?

the diffrence is how they get oil to them, i was told it wont work, 5.9 p pump oils thru a line on side of case and drains thru front, and a 8.3 comes thru front, give pro max injection a call 903-701-9521 ask for mark, also i have a pump off of my 96 its a 180 hp pump and has a cracked plunger assembly on #5 hole, thats the only damage to it it broke at a oil change shop when they over torqued it w/ pliers cuz they said it was loose, :s: i was saving it for a rebuild later but with times as tuff as they are i will part with it cheap if ya think you have a good plunger assembly, it has 300 k on it stock fuel plate and only a modded afc its whole life, give me a call 970-986-2571 Don:c:

for the 8.3 there are three pumps, all have different HP rating.

the oil delivery is on the opposite side so there will have to be some modding for the lines.
as for the plungers, I think they are running single helices (not sure if spelling correct)
the 8.3 are going to flow more fuel, so you will have to do a lot of adjusting on the idle.
I have a shop that I deal with directly and he has done this before, it is not a easy job.

The P7100 from an 8.3L is not single helix, the oil feed and return will be the issue depending on the application the pump came from.
