bad MPG
i did the math an im only gettin like 11 MPG. i dont hammer just drive it normal. would this be the fuel filter? i use power service a few times. ive heard the diesel out here in hawaii has lots of water in it.

The injectors and the twins kit are probably not helping much. Takes fuel to push that much air. Drain the filter housing into a clean, clear container and see what's going on for contamination.

Poor fuel quality, dirty air filter, low fuel press, timing, cold, short trips, using 4wd, wide tires. Just a few reasons for bad fuel mileage.

i know that diesel in Haiku and Paia tend to have a decent amount of water in them ... and in Hana i wouldnt even buy fuel ... lol ... i know that the guys at Ulupalakua have had water in the fuel issues in the ranch truck ... and i have had it a few times in my truck over at the house so it could be contributing but i dont think its enough to cause it to be that low ... but im sure the mods dont help much ... i know my truck back home only gets around 15 lol ... i have the bug and bus for fuel econ lol

Huh, you want to mod your truck and get 20mpg? BOMB your truck, then want fuel milage...OK,What Did I miss?. While most would say that BOMBing their truck helped their fuel milage I would have to say that would be true AFTER the novelty wore off. When one first adds power to their respective rides fuel milage ends up going up in a cloud of smoke as the owner gets aquainted with their additions. Most will tell you that BOMBing for milage and power are two completely different tunes and two completely different ways to go about them. Do the simple stuff first... -Normal Maintence, adjust the valves and check the timing. -Look your fuel system over for any signs of leaks or air getting into the system. -Check the Charge Air System for boost leaks. Then if you find all of the above is inline and ready you may want to slde the plate back and tighten the AFC down some to lean out the bottom end. OR.... Place a stop under the throttle pedal and do not allow yourself to show off to anyone....Andy P.S.-I'd bet the fuel over there is not the greatest and may be an issue also. |
