What the heck dont waste your money on expensive electrical parts.:argh: I put a lawn mower cable on mine and it works like a champ.:tttt:
and i suppose their not anything like a 1st gen cummins where you can pull it out and doctor it up:humm:
Don't know haven't tried. I thought about the cable route but I need the truck running fast and reliable for the moment. If I had the time to install cable etc... I probably would
Run it without!
The truck will run with the solenoid disconnected from the fuel valve. You will need to open the hood to shut it down though. I ran a 94 box truck that way for a year then went for my 3rd solenoid to make it sell-able.
watch going with the cable method, it can get costly...... I had a 93 and had the cable set up. While my son got out of the truck (he was 7 at the time) he pushed the cable back in without even knowing it. I had a 27' goose neck on truck and was pushing another 93 parts truck on the trailer with a tractor. The snow plow harness cought the trailer just enough to bump my truck forward. IT PUSH STARTED IT!!! Before I get off of the tractor and cought the truck it went a 1/2 block down the alley, pushed a van over the side walk and ran up on a porch. The trailor was all the way across the road and the truck was still trying to climb thru the front door of the house. It took a long time to explain it the village cop and even longer to explain it to the insurance nerd lol.

BD diesel has a upgraded kit that i am sure is cheaper than the dealers!! they are over priced so you buy a new truck eventually haha not much money selling new ones if ppl can afford to fix the old ones

You will never find another cable hooked up to one of mine, My situation could of been alot worse.
I have a cable on mine at the moment, and I have that same concern. It'll work until I find a good deal on a new solenoid, but yeah I'm not happy with it overall. The other thing is no chance for remote start without it.
I bought mine from this guy and it's one of the better deals out there:
94-98 DODGE DIESEL 5.9L CUMMINS FUEL SHUT OFF SOLENOID:eBay Motors (item 140361433904 end time Dec-20-09 18:35:31 PST) |
Found my problem. It was a bad ground on the harness which ended up frying the shutdown relay. But I have a new solenoid on there now and still need a relay... great news
I think I might have 2 relays around here.....I'll check tomorrow in the am and let you know.
