pump side plug
inspect the threads of the plug real good...................the first thread may be boogered, clean it up and try again..........maybe you have the wrong angle???
I did gov shims on my sons 94 a couple weeks ago and the plug took seconds..............maybe I got lucky

When your hanging like Magilla Gorrilla over the truck and attempting to bend like Gumby reach an area almost unreachable yet still trying to make that plug go in,its will create enough stress to make you want to commit tool abuse.
Old man once told me when you reach that point its time to put the tools down and walk away for some fresh air and get a new attitude about your work.
Have you taken a extension mirror and looked to make sure the threads are free from anything that would not allow the replacement of the plug?.

still no luck!!!!!!!! going to???? not sure at this point.call guenis book of world records for putting a plug in.threads are not messed up. never crossed threaded as i can't even get it to thread. tried every angle, used small socket, fingers, forward, backwards. feel like a real fool. the simplest thing is so freakin hard.
You have to push the shut off solenoid lever all the way towards the fire wall for the lip on the plug to get behind the set screw and start in the threads. It takes a me a while to get them started as well....but that is the big issue. Make sure that arm is pushed towards the firewall.
