Starting issues
 

Well as the title says i'm having some issues with my truck starting, it only does this when its cold(first start of the day) and when its been sitting for a while after being ran. when you go to crank it over it'll fire up and idle real low for a couple seconds then shut off, when you go to restart it it just cranks until you hit the go pedal a couple time then it'll sputter and run fine. the idle is set at 700 rpms. any ideas of whats goin on with this damn thing, dirty fuel filter,problem with the over flow? any and all help will be appreciated.

Air leak? fuel lines?

just replaced the fuel lines because they were leaking bad

Could be fuel filter - how often do you change it?

How about the prefilter? Have you ever cleaned it out or replaced it?

Could also be leaking air at the fuel heater. Or have you taken the heater out?

i change the fuel filter with every oil change so about every 3000 miles or three months which ever comes first. i hate to say it but i have no idea where the pre filter is or where the fuel heater is...

Still could be a fuel line issue.



I would bump the idle up a bit too and see if that helps:

Still sounds like air getting into the system to me.

hammer the only place it could be gettin air in the lines is by the fuel heater, because all of the other lines are new and i checked them several times, i'll check the one up by the fuel heater tomorrow when i change the oil and fuel filter.

So when you did your fuel line replacement you removed the factory hard lines that cross the transmission bellhousing ?.Why I am asking is the return line that comes off of the p-pump and runs underneath the intake shelf goes into a braided outside,plastic centered, hard line that crosses the bellhousing area.It is NOTORIOUS for going bad and not showing any type of leaks at all and it will cause the truck to loose primes also.BUT,If you replaced all of the lines,both draw and return,then you have only a few places to look for the issue.

Make sure when you check the fuel heater assembly you unlpug it as if the plug is wet then it is leaking air and causing issues also.

Did you replace the hose below (the red one obviously)?
