Default Burnt out fixing the NV4500

Has anyone had any luck with installing over the road truck transmissions. Both my trucks are down now with this crappy nv4500 not pulling its weight. What are some simple transmissions used in larger trucks that do not incorporate weight savings, synthetic syncros, etc... I can apply air if needed, gear numbers do not matter but I need overdrive. Also need to know difficulty on 4x4 setup.

If your installing something like a fuller or roadranger you're going to have to divorce mount the transfer case to keep 4x4. The one big advantage is that when you change the bell housing you can run a vocational clutch and you'll never slip it.

what are you pulling that you keep breaking your tranny, 4500's are some stout tranny's. Maybe you need to look at upgrading to like a side kick or something along those lines...

Go with this Torq King upgrade and you won't break em anymore. Gotta be some kind of issues goin on that your breakin the ones you have.

If all else fails the NV5600 will tow whatever loads you have and would be a much easier trade then the big truck trannies.

Default pulling? rockwell axles?

Pulling anything and everything, when I bought the truck I assumed it was up for the challenge, but im not on a 12 valve motor and about to put a 2.5 ton tranny and t case in it. Anyone done this? Also, how about using the rockwell axles, getting into a bit of work slappin those under the dodge?

I pull 20,000 plus pretty regular with mine and up to 30,000 on occasion and other then the typical 5th gear thing that have I have since fixed this thing has never slipped a bit. Now if i were pullin that heavy through some heavy hills or mountains I would definitely go with NV5600. It has the same top and bottom gears just less of a range in the gears in between and ten time's as strong.

The NV4500 won't hold up to speed shifting, No clutch used stuff, but's that's the only real thing I've heard of that has broke these things.

Guess i also should have asked, any smoke how many miles on the motor or any other symptoms through all this.
