Black diesel?

Ive ran a little of the stuff in my truck but havent ran any thing like half or anything. so whats a good mix and how is it on you truck.

MotorOilMcCall 10-21-2009 12:15 PM

Black Diesel? I'll bite. What is it? WMO?

If diesel is black, its usually thanks to algae. Not good.

tower_ofpower 10-21-2009 01:59 PM

i'm also intrigued... by black diesel do you mean something along the lines of bio fuels?

mylilpwny 10-21-2009 03:47 PM

Black diesel is used motor oil. I have heard guys burning as much as 25% without problems, I would filter it good though.

mylilpwny 10-21-2009 03:53 PM

a got cha .. just never heard it called that before ... thats how we used to get rid of our motor oil ... lol ... we put it in our old prerunner ... lol ... we used to just dump it in tho lol ... plooms of smoke hahah

black diesel

Ya im talking about mixing oil and hydralic and automatic fluid, but ive heard of running it like fifty percent.

will1am 10-21-2009 04:16 PM

i have read there are additives in trans fluid you wouldnt want in your fuel system.

collinscummins 10-21-2009 04:51 PM

From what I have read transmission fluid will ruin injectors. So at that risk is it really worth it? Not to me, my injectors were spendy. I run 1 quart of two stroke oil to one tank of diesel. I would say just stick to used motor oil. Gear oil I dont know, i dont think that would be good either.

12.valve.hauler 10-22-2009 10:59 AM

so what is the point of running used motor oil in the fuel. does it help, make it smoke, or just a easy way to dispose of it?:humm:

tower_ofpower 10-22-2009 12:17 PM

easy way to dispose of it ontop of cutting down on the ammount of fuel you actually use 30 gal tank with 1/4 of it used motor oil that's 7.5 gallons or almost a 21 dollar savings per fill up. thats a free oil change every 6 oil changes hahaha

12.valve.hauler 10-23-2009 11:55 AM

does it not hurt milage or the engine or anything like that???

mylilpwny 10-23-2009 08:09 PM

not that i know of ... but i could be rong

12vcummins96 10-23-2009 08:16 PM

ill run it in my duece becuase it is a multifuel vehicle but in my cummins man i dont trust it

12.valve.hauler 10-23-2009 08:34 PM

i know i wish i had a duece. i have wanted one since i was little. i want to know a little more about this because it sounds kinda intresting

9412Valve 10-23-2009 08:40 PM

It's a hotter burn - the original diesel was made to burn peanut oil.. Anyway, automatic trans fluid shouldn't hurt your injectors.. I run a quart or two in with every couple of tanks.. it cleans your injectors lol.

12.valve.hauler 10-26-2009 12:31 PM

so how much should i pt of each in a tank??

Farrier403 03-06-2010 10:21 AM

I put 1/3 of a litre in every tank. 450000km's on my truck.

wes-cummins 03-06-2010 05:14 PM

i have ran 15% in my cummins, ran more than 50% on my old 6.2 many times, just cant run to much in the cold weather, oil shuld be filtered really good tho if you dump it in the fuel tank

12valvecory 03-06-2010 08:46 PM

When i change my fuel filter i fill it with atf.

Man thats scary...
You worry about how poor the lubricity of ULSD is and you throw in a fluid thats even more harsh on your fuel system than the new diesel...Go Figure:argh::argh:

After spending the cash I have building my fuel system you will NEVER find me putting ANYTHING that is not a approved additive in it at all.By doing what is listed here I would just be throwing the cash I spent into a shredder and wasting it.

BTW...
The use of transmission fluid in a diesel for the puurpoe of "cleaning the injectors and fuel system" is nothing more than a old school truck drivers tale and does NOTHING for your fuel system except cause problems.

Whitecummins 03-08-2010 06:18 AM

In the shop we had a 7.3 come in with a bad injector oring making fuel and the truck had a full tank when we noticed it and im guessing the mix was about 50/50. I syphoned it out and put it in the truck :) They couldnt burn it very well so i may as well make use of their loss haha
