With 4.5" backspaced wheels 315's fit no problem. I've run them on 3 of my 2nd gens. However, some tires are slightly larger than others. My Nitto's rub the wheel well in the front, although my X-Terrain's never did.

is back spaced the same as a negative offset? negative is closer to the motor, possitive is further away.

Not exactly, but close. Offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel. Backspacing is measured from the outside edge.

What I'm getting at is you have wheels and tires closer to the motor and they dont rub? I find that interesting. Do you have OEM control arms?

I'd be interested in throwing some 35's under my truck but I think I need new wheels to do so that they don't rub on hard turns. I have no plans on new control arms.

Yes, generally. My 33's are decent in the space. 35's would be better but there's that rubbing thing again.

I dont have a leveling kit and i barely rub with my tires. Since the toyo mt is closer to 35" than most other 315's its the only tire i rub with. When i had my highway tread 315's on, no rub at all.
