NOOB question i know
ok so i just bought my first cummins and first diesel yesterday and want to do some fuel tuning .... i read up on it and saw that you can just adjust the star wheel to do some light tuning ... were is it located ... i tried to look for the allen screw but did not see it ... maybe i looking in the wrong place ... were in the engine bay is it located ?
|
you can do the star wheel. the mechanism it adjusts is what limits fuel at low boost. basically, it makes it smoke more, but with a little turning you may get a little better response off the low end. Before you go into it though you really need to get at least an EGT gauge.
That being said, the allen screw your looking for is about a 1" plug behind where the injector lines come off the pump. |
ya i have a set of gauges ... first thing i did ... wich way do you turn the star wheel to up the fuel ... towards or away from the engine
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i tweeked with the star wheel a bit and and it did help acutally alot ... noticable diferance ... is there any thing else i can do ... something about moving the plate forward ? |
yes you can move the plate foward it requires the removal of the afc witch is th housing
that the star wheel is located in if you are in their you might as well grind the plate to a 100 and push it full forward and as well as the afc housing hope that helps ya |
what trans do you have? Fill out your sig with truck info and it'll help a lot. :U:
|
Slide your afc housing all the back too and that will help actually add power...not just the black smoke. When i first got my truck i wanted to do everything but had no money at the time. I slid that housing and played with the star wheel. It helped a little with throttle response. Buy a plate if u can while your right there and it would be even better. Theres 4 bolts on it and one is sealed. I used a punch driver

cool thanx alot guys ... i will probably get in there this weekend ... i am running a auto trans .. how much power can the stock auto hold up ?
|
not much ive seen them come apart with stock power
|
crap lol ... wat do you think is safe like 250 ? 300 ?
|
turn the star wheel away from the engine for more pre boost smoke...
