the nail idea works if you dont plan on using it as a permanent fix... this was one of those things that he did and never intended to fix. didnt find out about it until we were using the loader to move engines around, went to turn the wheel and only one wheel moved 
there's been alot of presidential decisaions made on this tractor... good to hear you're fixin the truck up right; nobody wants a dead cummins guy

she drives a whole lot better now. while she was in there we pulled the plate out and turned the afc down to see what she has got.
i tightened the afc up quite a bit to cut down on the smoke and hopefully lower egts a bit. i got a guy that said he would time it for me for $100. should i do it and what should i set it at. i was thinking like 17.5 to 18* to be safe????

Somebody was looking over your shoulder. Which reminds me, I swapped out a steering box on a 79 Chevy a while back. I no sooner pulled away from my buddies shop when the steering stuck to the left. I'm glad it didn't do it on the highway, otherwise I would've literally have driven circles.

16.5 it is. thanks tower. i had a 99 chevy and as for sterring and suspension, it was the best truck i ever had. dont get me wrong i love my dodge and wouldnt trade it for anything but you think by now tey would have come up with a steering setup for them that dont wear out so quick.
my chevy had 335000 miles on it when i sold it and the sterring was never tuoched.

rag on me all you want for what im about to say but living around broke down equipment all the time i think i have a doctorate degree in afro engineering ive welded wired hammered torched and done so much riggin to get something through the day or back to the shop its not even funny its not a bad thing what that fella said about the nail its called using your brain in a pinch and that is the difference between a mechanic and a parts changer
