12.valve.hauler 09-21-2009 03:27 PM

2500HeavyDuty 09-21-2009 03:29 PM

im not familiar with the cummins fuel filter set up, does it have a drain to let the water out of the filter?

Dr. Evil 09-21-2009 04:19 PM

yes it does.

Drain fuel out of the filter housing remove the bottom, take filter out and wipe out with a lint free cloth, including the wif sensor. Put back together and take off wire connector, spray with wd-40 and reisntall.

thanks guys. do you have to re-prime the system and if so how do yu do that exactly

wisconsin redneck 09-22-2009 06:50 PM

yeh you do... theres primer bulb... alls you gotta do is push that thingabout 50 times n you should be good... its bellow the filte i think:humm:

Dr. Evil 09-22-2009 08:14 PM

open the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter housing. Push the primer (its much easier with a wooden dowel). When fuel starts dribbling out of the open banjo close it. Start trucks.

the 89 has the sensor that screws into the bottom of the spin on filter... they're brittle and probably not cheap... havent had to price one; dont want to price one :w2: even tho in reality the sensor should be "water on wires" sensor... the insulation has pulled away from the body exposing 1/8 inch of wire... it gets wet enough... the WIF light comes on....
