well hopefully you arent too late, thats how i found out mine fell out, the crack was hidden by the fan and pulley n all i had was an oil leak, never made a sound

parts finally got here today, case is gettin welded tomorrow, then i get to put the damn thing back together, man i miss my truck, this little 4.0 jeep cherokee is a major ego killer...

 

so; quick question... i'm using excesive gear noise as a reason to pull the cover and tab the pin... no idea whats goin on, it just got loud one day after a decent trip... exactly how much noise is supposed to come from the gears? ya take the oil fill cap off and you can really hear it... i know nosie is expected but this whine just... developed or atleast became more prominent...

makin sure it may not have been dowel pin related... for example got REALLY freakin lucky and the pin dropped and only caught a tooth...
