just get a piece of mild steel... 10 or 12 ga. steel should be plenty heavy... maybe 5 mins to make one while the cover is off... get yourself a tube of ultra black, and be careful with the front seal, put a little grease on the lip when you put it back on and you should be able to salvage the old front seal... but if you do it this way; you do have to realise its a reused seal and how long it'll last after that... who knows

I would also remove all the other bolts (one at a time of course) clean them, and put them back in with some loctite on them. This is also a good opportuninty to retime your injector pump if you have not done so already.

When we did mine - all we removed was the belt the fan, the harmonic balancer and the rad overflow tank. Its kind of tight but doable with the fan shroud in place.
Dont forget to loctite the other bolts. Good luck.

If your are doing this on the cheap - some people dont replace the timing cover gasket (use the grey RTV) or even the crank seal. I replaced both.
Make sure you use the loctite and get the longer metric bolt to hold the tab.
