yes another mpg problem!
 
ok so i had a trip this weekend of just under 300 miles, all highway minus 50miles city. so i was expecting the truck to pull some great mpg! i drove 65(in ohio) and 70(in west virgina) it never got more then 14lbs of boost, and never got over 1000*, these boost # and temps were in the city in WV. so it should of done good right! WRONG only 18.2 mpg!!! i get 17 in the city and not really babying it! how am i only getting 1 mpg better on the highway?????

please help!

Not really a 12v guy but I don't really see those numbers as being really bad. I would think with 3.54's it should be a little better. I could see it if you had 4.10's What kind of conditions were you driving in? I always hear people saying this and that about mileage but I know with mine it doesn't matter a whole lot how I drive unless I'm really hammering on it.

weather was good, and i figured the highway mile would be higher then 1 mpg over me driving all city!! i mean i am not hard hard on it in the city but i am not driving like a old lady either!

i know your tires are a little bigger than stock. speed is goin be off just a tick. but not enough to talk about really.

ya my speed were all off my truck, run 67(on gps) truck reads 65 same goes for 70(truck reads) gps read 72 so not that much! but all my figures are done off of the truck, this trip and my normal daily driving! so the figures are all equal. thanks

being that i live in WV. greatly depending on what part of WV your in... it's all hills they arent horrible grades, but they're long. so to maintain speed you put your foot abit heavier in the throttle but since they're such long grade you keep it in the throttle longer... it'd be nice if the fuel gauge worked in our truck ( got the parts just need the time to fix it) but i'd be able to give you an idea of the mileage in our truck... i'd attribute it to geography.

I do not think your really that far off either.
After reading your signature for the tire size and I am guessing you have 285/75/16's(you have them listed as 275's,don't make that size) and you spent alot of time in the hills of WVA,18.2mpg with 285's is about 19 or so and with the weight of the tires and the hills,you did OK.

I keep wondering when I read these type of posts what people are really expecting for fuel milage?.I mean,these are not Toy-Oh-Ta's and they do average in weight about 6-7000 lbs unloaded and dry.I have ALWAYS looked at any milage OVER 17 with how heavy our trucks are as a gift,just my thoughts......Andy

i have 4.10's 295 tires and lots of fuel,and a hybrid and i get 22 in town and around 25 on the highway.

sorry but if i wanted to pay almost $3 a gallon and get 18mpg i would by a V10 and pay less then $2.50 a gallon! not trying to be mean but i bought this truck for it fuel economy!!!! nothing else!!! and like bad ass said he is getting good fuel economy, why not my truck!!!!

yeah but you gotta figure that's only like 4 or 5 mpg difference.if you had my turbo you probably would get a little better too.and remember 18mpg's is good for a damn near 9,000lbs.truck.alot of small trucks dont get that!

all you have to do is fill up watch your miles then fill up again and do the math you don't have to have a fuel gauge.
