12v dies only SOMETIMES?

Searching does not seem to identify anything exactly like I'm seeing with my old 12V.:argh: I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a truck that will die after starting when it's cold. Well I mean it can be 75 or 80 outside but the truck has been sitting overnight. The problem is that it will fire right up and idle fine for about 15 seconds then it acts like it's short on fuel and start to studder and die unless I throttle the darn thing. What the heck could be wrong? I have looked at the fuel lines and they seem to be OK, any other ideas?

did you check your fuel filter?

Sounds like your lift pump is going.

what is your idle with the truck in gear with the air conditioning turned on?

it should be between 750 and 850 rpm in drive with your foor on the brake with the a/c wide open. also change the fuel filter as it is a cheap thing that won't hurt to do.

my uneducated guess would be that the idle is too low. mine did that. get a 10mm wrench and i'll see if i can find you a pic or thread on how to adjust the idle.

Agree with the above.

Also make sure your fuel soleniod is pulling all the way up when you turn the key.
