HX40/16 is a very good upgrade for a budget minded owner.

HOWEVER,If you do not pin the shaft and cover they do tend to snap the shafts or blow the cover faces off if you suddenly lift off the charger while in a hard boost climb.

Once you pin them they will take as much abuse as a budget S300 variant. Many moons ago when the diesel performance industry was in its infancy, the HX40 and the H2E were the preferred chargers for power. They still are are very good choices yet today however the S300 variants have just made them go by the wayside somewhat.

Someone asked about a HX55.....easy to tell you about them and easily summed up in two words.......LAG PIG!.......Andy

so it sounds like i need to either stick with my HX35 or switch to an HX40/16 or an S300?

i've got a 35/40 hybrid and i'm pleased.i get about 38psi,but i seems to spool alot faster,i guess with more blades it takes less spinning to move a given amount of air, that's the way i see it any way.and this six blade sounds a hell of alot better!

i wouldnt recommend going over 40 lbs on an hx40 and that is pushing it.. i had one on before i got this new charger and i snapped the shaft at 47 lbs of boost..there a good turbo for someone that is looking for a cheap upgrade
