Stock posistion is set diffrently from pump to pump a few turns but IIRC it's a little looser than half way. It's really a prefrence issue in regards to how you want your truck to drive. If your fueling big, You'll want it a little bit looser (the spring) so you dont get to much fuel while trying to spool!

Star wheel as stated should be as you want it for low end spool up.

Some like it a tad tighter to help control low end smoke, some like it alot looser.

It also determines what spring is being utilized in the housing as to the setting.

i just bought the truck and it is all the way to the front of the hole does it go more and will it hurt anything if i dont have gauges yet or anything with my tranny(auto)

The only thing it will hurt is our milage. With a stock plate and spring your not going to be doing much.

i thought just switching the washers and grinding a bit off the lever arm allowed for full rack travel. should you replace the spring as well? any info would be helpful!!!!1
