47re Fluid questions..

Hey sorrry quick question, its probably somewhere but i coulnt find it. 47 re fluid capasity? How much does it hold from just dropping pan and changing filter. Not including converter. I believe my converter has a drain plug on it, would it be a good idea to pull the plug? but how would fluid work its way back in? I dont wanna burn anything up even tho it is under warrante lol But also what kind of silicone do u guys use on ur bottom pan gasket? Just a regular rvt? Do i need high temp sealant? Does transfer case take the same atf fluid? If so how much. And what are torque specs for stock tranny pan bolts w stock pan? Thank you

Not quite sure on a pan drop. Am thinking you should have 8-10qt available??
Transfer case will take same fluid, correct.

Are those specs for the 12 valves heath?

Heath 08-12-2009 11:24 AM

Correct, I pulled from the 1998 12v listing on amsoil's website. Good check though. I happen to look at his info box to see he had a 12v.

Thanks alot man!! That helps.. i take it total fill is counting converter? I have a goerends converter tripple disc with a drain plug. I completely let it drain out. Any idea how many qts my trans should take with an empty converter, new filter, and stock pan?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Put in 12 qts, shows about half way on my dip stick. Going from 10-12 qts didnt move muuch on the stick. Wonder if I'll need more? Does it get wider at the top? So maybe at higher levels it takes more fluid to raise on the dip stick?
