Stock tranny questions
Hey all i bought a really clean 1996 12v 4wd last month with 121k on it. talked to the original owner bout the trans and he said the only thing he has done to it is change the fluid and filter every 25k.
i'm going to be towing a rockcrawler samurai and trailer coming in somewhere around 5500 lbs. Should i upgrade the valvebody and TC or just wait til it goes and get a full rebuild? Truck is on 35's with 4:10 gears btw. Thanks in advance |
if you have the money i would get a built tranny from one of the makes out there. but what mods are you plan to do on the truck

Not looking for huge horsepower just good gas mileage and some nice reliable power to get around and tow my toys. it will never see the drag strip or tractor pulls.
Don't have the $$$ for a 4-5k built tranny right now but i could scrape up the $ for a valve body installed and get a deep pan while i'm at it. Guess i could do that then reuse the parts on the full rebuild? just looking for some opinions |
put a valve body in, then once your convert goes, get a billet one. if your not hot rodding it and take good car of it you will have no issues for a wile. dont fix what aint broke:U:

If your wanting a good built Trans you don't have to spend $5000K.

That sounds good to me! should be able to do VB and deep pan installed for under 1k. |
will the valve body make the tc go out faster?
