A/C Not working :(
I'm not even sure where to start.. all I know is the compressor is not cutting on! :(. Could this be because low charge? Or should I go right to the compressor clutch? I notice no difference in idle when turning the A/C or heat on, and I definitely can't hear it cut on, so that's why I'm assuming that it isn't cutting on. Halp?

they have a low pressure switch on compressor that when pressure gets low keeps it from running. prob just low
|
If it is low.. it'd be because of a leak somewhere, right? It should keep pressure almost indefinitely unless it's leaking somewhere, right?
|
somewhat true but could be slow leak. i would get a can of dye, oil , stop leak and freon all in one can.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- you can jump across wires that goes on switch to see if clutch engages |
Sweet, thanks pap, really gotta get the A/C working.. god a lady friend coming to visit haha.

The 94-02 trucks are notorious for the A/C evap cores failing.Do the dye test or have a good A/C shop use their sniffer to see if thats where you leak is at.

i know when i had mine done there was no leak anywere that they could detect and i had the same problem. what i did on mine was route a jumper switch to the control switch. i ran it into the high pressure switch befor running it to the pump clutch switch. this way if the pressure gets to high it automatically turns the pump off

A/C not working
Ive got an 06 5.9l and the A/C stopped working today. its just blowing hot air. I checked the clutch and its not even engaging. it ran fine before then just quit. I checked the fuse/relay box and only found 1 hvac fuse and its fine. I tried to add, but the cheap guage I have read over 100psi and wouldnt recieve anything from the 134 can.
Any help is appreciated |
If i was working on it the first thing i would do is to check if it was low pressure causeing the problem or something else. There is a pressure switch on the accumalator and if the pressure gets to low it woulnt let the clutch kick on so i unplug it while its running with the a/c on and stick a paper clip in it and if the clutch kicks on then you know it was the pressure and if it dosent then you have some more searching to do like a relay or some wireing or the clutch itself.
