hx35/40 hybrid and no difference!

alright guys,i got my hybrid together this weekend, and as of right now i'm kinda disapointed.it is a awsome!hee's the problemb, all i can get is 20-25psi out of it.and my egt's still go out the roof,i thought they should go down some.i was getting about 27psi with a #0 plate and stock turbo.now i'm getting 20-25psi with my #100 plate and the hybrid.i dont understand it.i did the washer swap, ground the barrel ect.so i should be geting enough fuel on top.i don't have my gsk in yet, could it be that it is defueling and i need more fuel with the bigger wheel?i don't know, help!!!:argh:

sounds like your getting fuel if its smokeing and getting hot ... I would throw a set of gov springs in I think your gonna like the way it runs with a set of 3k's. put a set of valve springs in and your gonna like the 4k's even more.

d0 you think thats why it's not boosting, and what about the heat,i can't even go up a hill without hitting 1300*

It sounds to me like you might have a boost pressure leak or a Drive pressure leak. My $.02

x2 bost leak

BAD ASS RAM 07-13-2009 12:40 PM

what do you mean a drive pressure leak, and is my egt problem cause i'm not getting enough boost?

94 12valve 07-13-2009 01:04 PM

drive press is the amount of pressure in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. a good drive press ratio is 1 psi drive to 1 psi of boost. a leak could be in your exhaust manifold or mosst likely where the turbo bolts to the manifold.

where would you check first, and how do i check the exaust, just look for black on the connections?

and is the drive pressure a pretty common problemb?

you need to build a boost psi tester, get a 3" pvc cap, a psi gauge, and a compressor fitting, like the ones that are used from the line to a impact gun. drill a hole in the cap, put the gauge in there so that is easy to read, when clamped to the turbo, (like the intake clamps on) then drill another hole, put the compressor fitting on there. turn your shop air on, adjust the regulator to your max boost, just say 35psi, and then you make sure you psi gauge on the tester is readind the same psi. once you got everything hooked up, take a spray bottle with soap and water, spray every connection, and the innercooler, if you got bubbles, like a leaky tire.....LEAK, if no leaks, your good to go. Also check you intake gasket, thoes are very common leak spots:U:
