Over flow valve
 

Can anyone give me some pictures/instructions on adding a fuel psi regulator on my p7100. I want to Gut the over flow valve and adjust the psi with a regulator and gauge. didn't know if anyone had done this and have pictures, or good instructions. :humm:

Let me see if I have some pictures. You should really dual feed this while you are doing this as well. Feed it at the stock port and feed it at the return port and return it out the front plug located just above the front gear cover.
You can see the return plug here clearly but it has tape on it.

Ok, here we go. On my old set up with my aeromotive pump I had 5/8 line to the T and then 2 1/2" lines feeding the pump. One goes into the stock feed port, the other goes where the OFV went. Then you remove the plug in the front of the pump and install a -6 12x1.50 I think fitting. You use 3/8 hose and run it to your regulator. You also need to tie in the injector return into your return before the regulator as well. I can get you a fitting that you can cut off the flare on the stock steel return line and then connect a push lock line to it. It really isn't all that bad and is the best and safest way to go to ensure cool fuel and plenty of supply to the Ip.

If you have no aftermarket lift pump I wouldn't do any of this until you get one. just shim your over flow valve until you want to build a fuel system for your truck.

Alright, Sounds, good, I just shimmed it the other day, and put a smaller spring in the center of the original. I am planing on beefing this up, but i have been dumping all my money into a 68 road runner, so funds are very limitted. Thanks for the pictures and information! I am looking for some very basic help and I believe it may be right here. I am lloking to replace the stock banjo bolt on the inlet of my 98 ppump with something I can either connect a 3/8 rubber line or another type of line that would need to be 1/4 NPT at the other end. I need to do this in order to tie in my vegetable oil system and ensure no leaks. I am not really looking for major power mods. I am not familar with AN fittings but I do believe this is what I need but am unsure of what size. ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe 1/4" is too small. It should be 3/8" npt minimum. It sounds like you want to eliminate the banjos - but Im not 100% sure of what your doing.

I believe that port is a M14 and I think this is what you need. You will have to get the other end to complete this, but this will get you started.

did i miss something??? shim the overflow valve? for more fuel? is there really gonna be a benifit to this?

Shimming the overflow valve will raise the pressure in the system because the overflow valve is the regulator in this fuel system. You won't benefit from shimming the OFV if your lift pump is weak though. So make sure you have a good lift pump. It should have 15-18psi at idle and 28-32psi at 2k. These are cummins specs for a p series pump fuel system.
