Hello i am new to this diesel thing. But I have always loved the sound of a 12 valve cummins and about two weeks ago i bought one. Its a 96 2500 2wd LB and i love it. Ive started tinkering with it alil by straight piping the exhaust and building me a cai jsut taking it slow trying to figure everything out. Im gonna get me a pyro and boost gauge in about two weeks and try to turn it up. But my transmisson has been acting up. Its a 47re and when your driving it acts like it slips shifting from 3rd to 4th and when you get over 50 mph it want shift down. Ive been told its bc of the torque converter lock-up? Is there anyway i can get it to not lock up? Thank you db!!

 

There's probably a hundred threads on that same problem on here read around you'll find the fix

The auto trannies in the 12v's have been the weak link with the 12v's. and welcome to db.

 

why would you want it to downshift?

 

the first thing to do before any performance parts is beef up the tranny

 

yes you need to upgrade the auto. trust me i had the same problem
