paint or polish?

i just got a industrial injection super phat shaft 62/71/14. eventually i want to make it look nicer than this factory cast color. i was thinking of having it painted or polish. my question is how would someone go about polishing something like this?

They take a good amount of work on a wheel to do them right. You have to buff it smooth with some 100 grit Satin compound first and then work it with the buffing compounds, they come out lookin like they are chromed.

You can do a home job on it but your gonna work for it. Personally if i didn't have the equipment I'd just go buy me some of the high temp paint and rattle can it.

Paint retains heat the best way would to have it powder coated if you wanted it painted most hi temp rattle can paints aren't even good to 2200 degrees powder coats good way beyond that. Id polish it personally a good machine shop can do it if you want
