That sucks.I think the people that design trucks and regular vehicles are brain dead sometimes. They should be made to work on these vehicles and see what it's like to work on them.:ph::ph:

starter contacts are a normal failure

LarryB's Dodge starting problems solved here.

Amongst all the jobs that one can do on a vehicle, changing a starter on a Dodge truck is nowhere near enough to complain about.

Changing a starter on a Cadillac Northstar is on the level that you can complain about.

got my new starter only 345.00 going todo it after my lunch is done.

DB Admin 06-26-2009 06:10 PM

dont think you needed a new starter just the contacts

:humm: $345 or $20?? Which is more?

You can just do the contact and plunger and it will likely be good for 200k more miles

skyjacked84 06-26-2009 10:59 PM

I would to.

94cummins12v 06-27-2009 10:47 AM

wow, those arnt cheep starters at all, you can but about 30 rebuild kits for that price. i had to do the same thing on my truck when i bought it, takng it out isnt as bad as putting it in, especially when you drop it:argh:on yourself

green monster 06-28-2009 02:04 AM

what if you've already changed the plunger and contacts to the ones from larry b s and the starter still clunks some times?

94cummins12v 06-28-2009 12:06 PM

try the rebuild again if that dont work get a new one

smokeindodge_12v 06-29-2009 07:10 AM
