fuel lines.
 

my 95 has a dry rotted fuel line. it was sitting for two years before i bought it and they went bad. so i was thinking ill just replace them all and put a fass or air dog system in while im at it. which one is better?

Save your money on the FASS/AIRDOG. The stock system will support 600+ hp.

You need some diesel rated fuel line - 3/8" for the supply and 5/16" for the return. There are two at the front and two lines at the tank that need replacing. As well as another short section of return line. You will have to drop the tank or raise the bed to get at the fuel lines at the tank. Gt 4 feet of each line and make sure its "diesel rated" - dont just put in regular gas line.

This isnt the easiest or funnest job.

It doesnt add any horsepower - its essentially a fuel pump. It does remove entrained air from the fuel, and provides excellent filtration, which are big plusses.

The Airdog/Fass was designed to remedy the problems with the VP-44 injector pump in the second gen 24V trucks. It was later modified to be able to run on a 12V but certainly is not needed unless like I said, you are above 600 hp, or so. IMO its a waste of money on a 12V truck - there are many more things you can spend the money on.

I love my air dog 150 comes with all new lines and fittings with great instructions. you may not need all the fuel it will push for what you have but, but IMO knowing you will always have great fuel press and the better filter is worth the $500. and it gives you room to grow

alright thanks ill have to invest in the lines then. but another question. . . . . i founf a few 24 valves engines and trans that have everything with them for sale. how hard would it be to swap it in place of the 12 valve. do th engine mounts and all the other mounts pretty much match. the engines are 98.5-02

Why do you want to do that?

The block is the same. The 24V head flows better but the VP-44 isnt near as good as a P-7100.

In doing this swap you would have a bunch of electrical issues as the 24V engine has a lot more sensors, PCM, ECM etc. etc. I would think that it would be easier to rebuild the 12V that you already have.

Everyone's swapping the 12's into the 24's. I wont own anything ever again thats over valved!

well for the easier power ups. just buy a smarty and ill have all the horse i need.
