"as are the transmission protection relay and dashboard overdrive lamp. PCM inputs affecting transmission operation include the throttle position sensor, output shaft speed sensor, vehicle speed sensor, engine speed sensor, brake switch, cruise control switches, ignition, overdrive on/off switch and sump fluid temperature thermistor"

I would check all my grounds , If I can help you get a plan for diagnoses let me know! It's what I do all day long!

Here's Where I would start by Connector
Start with cleaning the ground on the PCM , Its a ring connector bolting somewhere near the PCM , Clean it with emory cloth as well as where it mounts.
With the key off disconnect black PCM connector (passenger side firewall)

Use a ohmeter and check the following.
A31 / A32 should have a resistance below 5 OHMS
If not, the Ground circut a/31 a/32 has a break or a bad connection.

If not move to Using the Voltmeter and check A22 which should be 10.0 Volts and if not it should be exactly what your battery voltage is.

Next, Turn the ignition on, and Measure the voltage on A2. With the key on it should be 10.0 volts or the same as the battery. If not the Switched Ignition input is broken or has a bad connection!

I would start here and if need be we'll diagnose further!

Your PCM is the powertrain control module. Mounted on the passenger side Firewall.

Any voltmeter thats a decent one will have a Ohm feature!
Going shop rate to check it would be around $80.00
