Tranny Question..
Hey guys,
Im looking for your opinion to help me decide. Im thinking about converting my truck into a manual. I tow somewhat and want to hook to the sled every once in awhile. Whats better for sled pulling, a 6sp or a 5sp? Whats the difference between the g56 and the nv5600? Are billet shafts available for 6speeds? Thanks |
how much horsepower do you have or plan to make. the 4500 is stronger but the 6 spd has a bigger input and it is nice for a low horse truck that pulls alot of trailers because the ratios are closer

Im basicly stock, except for fuel plate is ground to 0. Id like to make it around 550 range. Not crazy so i cant drive it on the street, but id like it to have as much power as possible. How is the nv4500 stronger? different internal parts?
Also Ive herd theres 2 different 6sp trannys made, one has bigger shafts or something like that?? |
if you do go with a 6 spd the 5600 is the way to go im not even sure if a g56 will bolt up right. if i was you id go with a 4500 put a big input in and fix 5th you can find 4500s fr a lot less than what you can 5600

Thanks man! I think its between the 4500 and 5600 now, I love the way the 5600 tows. Ive drove a few and I love them. Ill be lucky if i hook to the sled but maybe 10 times a year. Its not going to be a full out puller, but it will be towing a trailer from time to time. Maybe on average pulling trailer like 2 days a week. Do they make billet parts for the 5600 to make them stronger?
