hard to put in gear....squeeking
while out on a 100+ miles highway trip the truck got hard to put into gear after getting into town.i have also notices a squeeking noise when the truck is in neutral.i have some thoughts on what it is but would like to get others from members.i am thinking of changing the trans fluid, considereing redline based on what i have read..anybody got any testomonials
i guess i need a certain type rating trans fluid....it also is getting harder to push the clutch pedal to the floor at times
i have a manual transmission in my 94
thanks
when on the trip i lost my little seal that goes on the oil dipstick and got oil around there and the maybe the trans....where can i get that little seal for the motor oil dipstick?

sounds like the pilot bearing...
Hard to get into gear from a stop, squeaking in neutral.... definately sounds like the PB
Throwout bearing would only make noise when the clutch is being disengaged
As for the proper oil in the trans, thats highly debated. castrol syntorque is the only oil specified for the nv4500, but others have run ams with no problem.

have been ill for a week now.i would like to know where to drain the trans and how/where to fill it.i looked under there and didnot see a fill plug only a drain plug.
i hear d there is a seal i can replace while under there and it doesnt cost much either.
what is this seal i can replace?

as i understand it ....the bolt closest to the ground in the box shaped cover on passenger side of trans is drain plug and the bolt to the left of it is the fill plug...the one not on the cover. my truck has 266k on it i have read there is some kind of seal that should be replaced and isnt too much $$$
