Are you interested in selling that head? If so, how much? Mine is 1997 12 valve.

i also have a 97 with oil in the coolent

about 6 months ago my head gasket blow out on the side of the block, losing coolant externally. i sent the head into a machine shop, had it going threw, and milled. i put everything back to specs, and all torque specs. now being 6 month later i have oil in coolant, and over flow tank. is there a way to check the oil cooler behind the oil filter on passenger of truck. can u remove some of the line and put them under pressure and be able to tell if the cooler is bad? if there is a way to do this i need help please? i rather not tear into the head again if it is the oil cooler. i have been told that it is a possibility that it has gone bad. the engine still runs strong, it doesn't act funny or any thing out of the ordinary
thanks for the help

i got a 96' model, i just got back from class and checked the fluids and noticed my upper radiator hose was swollen about 4" in dia. i opened the radiator cap and nothing but oil had come gushing out. i had checked everything the night b4 and it all checked out good, you mention the head gasket, i just put a new one in along with a head and valve job but now this oil in the radiator has me stumped :argh:, im fairly new to the diesel world so could any body help me out?
thanks.

i bought a 97 5 speed a while back put 90 miles on er then lost all oil psi destroyed my turbo everyone pointed to hg so i did all the machine work bought a new turbo .10 over head gasket and all new gaskets above and studs did everything by the numbers and it still did it so i then bought a new cooler and it still did it turned out to be an internal crack in the block!:argh: 1100 bucks down the drain there so my advice is th check everything before you go stickin all that money into it

cascade dishwasher gel bout 3 gallons of water and alot of time that stuff can take forever to clean out! just take the soap and fill 3 gallon jugs with water add some soap and shake pour in radiator and start it up until it gets around running temp drain and repeat it will eventually clear up oh i used warm water it seemed to work a little better for me

I am not so certain it is the head gasket. It has the possibilty of being an oil cooler.

Yeah, I pulled the cooler out and it looked like it may have had a slight leak in gasket, I'm not 100%.
But I have 2 gallons of "purple power" I was going to use to flush the cooling system, poor it in with some water and run it after I get this leak fixed. Any input on that idea of using purple power?

Im going to order a new cooler and gaskets tommorow.
