exhaust gas temp
 

i installed my gauge for my EGTs and the highest I hit was about 1050 degrees... i dont know if thats good or bad.. but i will be installing some 370 marine injectors pretty soon and i would venture to say they will raise the temperature... so what i am asking is, how much will they raise my temp?? and how long should your temp take to get down to zero after yo kill the engine?? cuz mine stayed around 400 for like a minute then slowly worked its way down after 5 min to zero

1050 is low you could use more fuel the 370's will make a lot of heat. My pyro stops at 1500 and has been burried a few times. As for the cool down let your egt's get below 300*F before you shut the engine off your trubo will thank you.

I would think about a possible turbo upgrade. Maybe an HX40 will do the trick.

ya i know... getting a bigger turbo would be nice but my tranny needs work first. so when i bought the gauges they messed up my order and sent me a 1600 degree and a 2400 degree EGT gauge. do you think i should keep the higher one if i plan on hopping up my truck too 450hp

I hope to god and your truck does to that it'll never see above 1600 for anything longer than a couple of secs....

ok so even with injectors and delivery valves and a chopped fuel plate i wont go above 1600?

bud, if you hit 2400 degrees you wont have a piston left in the engine....they will be completely melted.

For sustained operation, do not exceed 1250 degrees. Short bursts of 1600 degrees are generally ok, but I would not push that for very long.

ok so i'll just switch my gauge to the 1600 then since i wont wan2 go above that. so is the 2400 degree only for like the really fast drag diesels that run like propane injection and stuff?

...they are still running aluminum pistons....a 2400 degree pyro is likely for a gas engine or alcohol...
