low on power?

My 94 Dodge seems to be loosing power. Sure seems like it used to run harder and faster than it does now. What is the normal 0-60 time? All stock, automatic trans. Mine is about 15.3 seconds! 0-40 comes pretty quick, then ramps much slower. I ran it to a little over 90 and it didn't seem like it was going to do much more.

My turbo is also very noisey under acceleration - has been for years. Doesn't whistle like it should - more of a howl. (no leaks) Turbo does change pitch with engine speed and I can hear it spin down when I shut down the engine (No muffler).

Starts and idles perfect w/ 253k miles, mileage good 16-21 depending on highway %. All stock - never been touched. No aftermarket gauges so I don't have exhaust temps or boost pressure. Only mod is the straight pipe.

changed the fuel filter lately?

fuel filter

I've got one I've had for God knows how long - still in the box and shrink-wrapped. Will change it out this weekend. I change the oil very regularly (5k), and air filter every now and then, otherwise just drive the heck out of it. I forget it needs anything else!

After a while the mechanical stuff just wears. After you get the fuel system up to snuff, a quick valve set and timing adjustment will make it feel like a new engine. Also the throttle cable and linkage on the pump wear and don't allow full throttle motion. That could be as easy as a few links and sockets from the local Cummins vendor..
