I have heard an seen alot of yall talking about an have had the timing adjusted on a truck. I have no idea what the timing is on my truck or if it has ever even been adjusted. How or what is a good way to tell if it needs to be adjusted or if it has been? I havent ever had any experience with this. Thanks for any help.

 

The only real way to know it to check the timing ... its really not that hard to do if you have to tools. You can buy a timing kit from pure diesel power which includes the gear puller, dial indicator and the DV socket. the only other thing you would need is the enine barring tool which they also sell. The stock timing on your truck should be 12- 12.5*

 

most people set them anywere from 14.5-16. i know dodge specifies with higher injectors and modded pump to set it at 16.5. i went a tad higher to 18* and i noticed the truck runs hotter but i planed ahead for twin turbos

 

with his ringed head and his ddp3's I would put the timing 16.5*-17.5*

 

Ok so where exactly do i check the timing at?

 

you have to remover the dv holder and the dv to get to the plunger. whatever the lift of the plunger is at tdc is what your timing is set at
