i had ones from walmart in my 98 for 5 years before i sold it and he is still running them. ive heard the optimas dont last in our trucks.

I agree the optimas dont do to well in work trucks, I like the green top interstates, if you can plug your truck in at night it helps the batteries last longer too, less strain on them when the oil is warm.....:mob:

So What should i as in cold cranking amps some one told me 1000

ive had interstates and they lasted 4 years i currently have auto starts in and going on 5 years first four were in colorado, now im in texas and going strong, they are 2 batteries at 750 cold cranking amps each, remember if you exceed the recommended cca you could damage either your starter or your electrical system.

A few years ago (3 I think) I installed Deka Group 31 Commerical batteries. Due to the size, this mod required removing the battery trays and cutting out one of the sides of the tray. The cables were also too short, so I replaced all the battery cables with 2/0 welding cable and converted everything to Military style battery clamps with ring terminals. Ill have to take a couple of pics tomorrow if I have time.

The batteries were crap and gave me nothing but problems. I replaced them with Group 34/78 Red Top Optimas. It hasnt been cold yet but so far, I am very happy. will be iteresting to see how they handle -40 temps.

BTW, the great thing about the Optimas is that there is no corrosion - you dont have to clean the battery posts and terminals - thats a BIG plus to me. Plus, they are sealed so you dont have battery acid leaking down the inside of your fenders causing damage.

I been telling people that optimas were good. But everyone on here hates them.

I've always heard they were good also. :humm:
