Turning up my timing tuesday what would you bump it up?
Not 100% sure on how high I should advance my timing I am taking it to joe hellmann of hellmann performance he told me to go 20* just wondering what yall think cause you all know first hand what the difference is.

20 is a little high and can be risky on a stock headgasket. Is your headgasket stock? Any plans on an o-ring or firerings? Are you running studs?
I believe 16-17 degrees is where most guys set theirs. |
Yep... From the looks of your sig I don't see rings, or studs. 20* will blow that thing faster than a fat girl on Bill Clinton. I'd go 16*, 16.5 or 17* if you feel lucky. That 66mm Turbo is keeping your drive pressures low, but timing effects in cylinder pressures a lot more than it does drive pressures (exhaust manifold pressure).
Once you go to studs, you could run 18* or more, and with o-rings, and studs I've seen guys run 25*, although I never would without a copper gasket. |

Yeah, actually, 2500HD is right. If you're running 50PSI, you should have blown the stock HG already, but if you bump the timing you could drop your wastegate pressure a good 10-15psi and still have the same EGT's probably. The timing would make up for the lower boost, and you'd run better at higher RPM's like when you install that 4k GSK, :w2:.

see I have 4k springs the problem is that they are in my back seat and not in my pump .lol but I am wanting to get my timing set then I need valve springs then install my springs.

I am sure hes asking because hes repairing his dowel pin/timing case. its a A VERY good "time" :w2: to bump the timing since everything is already apart.

I say bump it to 16 or so. When the head gasket goes add fire rings and studs. :U:
