Best towing turbo?
I'm running my stock hx35 on my 97 12v. I've took the fuel plate out and put in a 3k gsk and boost elbow. The truck is running pretty good and I have to replace the clutch before I do anything else, but I feel like the turbo is being a hindrance. I've got it set up so that it doesn't smoke much and egts aren't to bad, but I can easily hit 36-38 psi of boost. According to a previous post 40 is max that you want to push this turbo. Would the 3.5 inch boost tube and intake help? What do you think is the best towing turbo? I tow almost daily anywhere from 5000 to 20000 lbs. I've got the bd supermax on my dura max and it made a world of difference. I was looking at the bd super b or the cpp 62/65 12.

Of the two you listed any 62/65/12 would be a good choice for what your after. Another cheaper option would be a good he351, would have to redo a little bit of intake piping and the exhaust piping to make it work tho.

Redoing the piping wouldn't be a big thing. I already built the exhaust once. I had been reading about the he351 on here also. I think I can come up with one of them. What are we talking about for spooling, egt control, and peak boost pressure? By how much will it out perform the hx35?

I found a video of an he351 vgt on a 24 valve. Would this work on the 12v as well? It had a toggle switch for the exhaust brake. That would be nice when towing.

Sounds good. What about the 3.5 inch intercooler line and intake?

Another question, if you were to run an he351 vgt on a 12v could you run a pacbrake load leash? Would it work? Why or why not?

isnt the pac brake made to work with the 24v head? im not sure how you could put it on a 12v
