A friend of mine is parting out his 05-06 crew cab 2500 cummins. It has the electric, saddle leather seats in it. How difficult is it going to be to put those seats into my 97? Mine doesn't have power seats and the driver side foam is getting worn out. What about the back seat? His is crew and mine is extended cab. His also has the storage under rear seats.

Measure out tracks on both seats. This will let you know spacing wise where you are at.

As far as wiring them in I can't be of much help. But people add power seats into customized cars all of the time. So it is possible but I have heard it is a pain!

I highly doubt that those crew cab seats are going to fit back there. When doubt...measure and be prepared to have mounts fabricated.

I would imagine the 3rd gen rear seats are bigger than 2nd gen by a good margin. Front seats can totally be made to work though.

I'm going to try it in a few days. The seats aren't going to cost me anything so it's worth trying. I have to wait until after they get the motor out of it before I can get them.

It will require some bracket work at the very least.

In that case, build some brackets to put your dmax seats in it, and I'll buy a set from you :c:

I do need a new driver seat in the dmax. But I really want to put these in my cummins. I may buy the whole truck if he's cheap enough. A straight axle for the dmax would be nice.

I drive my truck well over 1K a week for work. Being an old Dodge, at least once a year I break it so catastrophically that it's down for a month or two. My backup truck is an '06 Dmax dually, loaded. It is a very sweet truck, but I wouldn't say it does anything better than my old Dodge that isn't inherent to the platform. i.e., my shortcab obviously isn't going to absorb people and items as well as the four door GMC.
Regardless, I'm on the fence about the seats. I got really spoiled on that Sierra leather. The heat works amazing, and cleaning them is a snap. First impression is that they're way more comfortable, and six 8-way power is super customizable. That said, after riding around all day in them, I'm damn ready to get out. In my old Dodge with original cloth seats, I can drive for ten hours and still be feeling great. It's a paradox. But I think, if I came across a nice pair of Chevy leathers, I'd be hard pressed to keep myself from snatching them up and finagling them in my Dodge anyway. I know it can be done, another guy in here put some in his 2nd gen, wired up and everything.
