Auto to NV4500
Hi all. Putting a NV4500 into my 92 W250 that came with an auto. Rebuilt the NV4500 with the HD input shaft and it bolts up with transfer case. At a wall with the Bell housing as the trans is from a gasser.
1. Heard buzz about the NV4500 bell housing from a diesel or V-10 has the same bolt pattern? If so, will it need spacers between the engine spacer and bell housing and if so, how long? Will it work with the auto trans engine spacer or is the matching spacer necessary? If so, will it need spacers between the engine spacer and bell housing and if so how long? Do I need a spacer for the newer starter? 2. Talked to Steve at Advance Adapters and the Getrac to Nv4500 adapter will work with the exception that I cannot find the Getrac clutch fork part # 4428428 that would normally be swapped from the old Getrac from the truck. Does anyone know where to locate one, or are there any other ones that will work? Any input would help greatly, would really like to get the truck back on the road. |
My truck has the 12V Cummins. And correction "Getrag" trans

I don't think that you have a getrag. I believe the automatics in the first gens was a torque flight 727, but I'm not positive. I have the bell housing and fork got a 4500. Along with the hydros and pedals.

Just correcting my spelling, yes the truck came with an automatic. Do you have the enigine plate also?

No. I never made it that far into the swap. About the time I got most of the parts together I found the 97 in my signature and sold the 94.
