lift pump help
 
On the road for 500hp but am not wanting to get a electronic fuel pump to supply fuel simply because they do not last long, how necessary is it that I get one, any other trick I can do like a 40hp or 50hp over flow valve with stock lift pump?

500 hp isn't a huge problem for the stocker, its more that most 12 v trucks are so old the lift pump will be going soon. yes the ofv thats adjustable will keep your truck pushing power as long as your stock lp is good. but keep this in mind, you need about 10 psi for every 1000 rpm and most performance 12v are running 4gsk and are pushing 4200 rpm in the top end of those trucks and some around 3800. that means you need 42 psi or 38 psi etc to acheive those rpm efficiently and you will no this by knowing your actual fuel pressure. and thats a general theory, add big sticks, dv's etc you can drain that pressure at lower rpm. also the factory pump wasn't designed for operation above 2800 rpm. there are options, and ones that are good. I've had air dog personally and have installed one on my buddies truck who i soully do all work to and is a test mule for a lot of ideas and products especially since my new truck is being built. any ways, id never touch an air dog. myn was weird, made noise and popped the fuse once on me. no clue how messed it really was, its gone now anyways. my buddies same thing 165 air dog, ran 4 months in summer and failed. just quit, and as soon as they sent a replacement and ironically it ran better than before. so we not only got a lemon in the way that it failed but in the fact it didn't put enough fuel out or whatever. we are yet to get a gauge on it but we will be soon and logging how this motor lasts. now i have a fass 220 hasn't been used yet but overall looks like a far better product and kit swell as installation. they have better rep aswell and i know a lot personally that run them no problem. finally the option i like the best and wish i went with considering the price isn't far off a fass 220 once you account for everything and that is a waterman mechanical pump, I'm not gonna go deep into it but it seems for obvious reasons like its a bit more custom and not really a straight up kit that mostly racers/sled pull etc use them but they are mechanical, bad ass, from what i understand quite easy to install and reliable as hell but thats all i know. you would have to research and see if theres any fitment issues in stock trucks or whatever but they seem sweet. i know you need a new billet front cover and some other things. look into keating machine, they make the cover and also sell the pump and fittings as well. they are very easy to deal with aswell. one final thing is the ofv, it is important. so whatever you do keep in mind to get to corresponding ofv from tork ten

I have 80hp injectors, mac plug, studded head, 4k gsk, 60lbs springs,#0 plate WFO, afc WFO and am curious if running bd-killer b turbo will drain my stock lift pump
