Fuel pressure gauge
I've got a 1995 12 valve and I recently put a new glow shift fuel pressure gauge in. I tapped the factory banjo bolt on the fuel supply line to the pump. I put my snubber directly onto that, and then my sensor directly on the snubber. At idle the gauge bounces around a bit. And also a bit at cruising speed. No leaks to be seen. Help me out! Thanks.

take a pic and show what your set up looks like ... I might have an idea... need to see it though ....:humm:

It's a mechanical pump, they do that. There's no way to make it perfectly smooth without dampening the response time. As long as you can figure an average pressure, you're good.

You didn't say it didn't have the original pump, an electric pump shouldn't do that. And it may wear the gauge out prematurely, but since it's a glowshift, it may not be working correctly right out of the box.

huntman, look at the thread i started here:
https://www.dieselbombers.com/12-val...lp-needed.html In that thread, Jbearsvt goes into detail on the install and it works great. Your 12v has a mechanical lift pump and it will fluctuate. it's the nature of the beast. There are ways to dampen the pulses so that you get a more consistent reading. Read over the thread i posted. All of the information is there. JBearSVT, here's a 3 year old thank you since I never replied to the thread. :alone2: If you lived closer, I'd buy you a beer. You rock. |
LOL
Just passing on what I learned from Michael at ISSPRO. Glad it helped someone! |
