95 ram 2500 Gauge loss.
Out of the blue my rpm and odometer stopped working. My voltage meter which usually sits at 14v running but now is at 8v. I replaced the alternator, and got my gauges back for a min or two. So I had thought the alternator was a bad remanufacture, but at the parts store tested ok. I exchanged it for another one and installed only to still have no gauges.
Is there anywhere else I can look to solve the problem? Maybe a relay? |

Check battery voltages would a good first step.
Both of the items you are having trouble with are controlled by the PCM. The speedometer will be a white/orange stripe wire at the PCM plug. The tach will be a gray/blu stripe wire at the plug check these pins in the plug for condition. do you have any other items on the instrument panel that are not working? ie fuel, temp, oil press gauges etc? here's a schematic Attachment 30399 Hope this helps |
My oil pressure, Temp, and Fuel gauges still work. its just my speed and rpm that don't.
and my voltage meter is low. I will try tracing said wires to and from the PCM. Thanks for helping give some advise. |
Check your grounds too, I've had this happen with bad connections.

The link you provided will not open.
I will also check grounds, any certain location I should start? |
