Clutch kit help
 

Hey there guys. Well I'm going to be rebuilding my trans shortly here and I figured I would throw a new upgraded clutch in there. I've been looking around at the valair clutches as well as Luk. I need a clutch able to handle pretty frequent hauling and towing due to my firewood business. I use my truck as a daily driver as well. Now for my truck, it's a 96 ram 3500. It's completely stock right now but I planned on getting a different fuel plate and turning the star screw up a little for added power while towing. I could care less about making 600 hp but I'd like to be in the 350-400 range. It's got the 4:10 Dana in the back anyways so it's not like I'm going to be on the drag strip with it. I was wondering if the 13" valair clutches are that much better than just don't a heavy duty 12 1/4 rated for 500 hp or something. That way I'd have plenty of grab if I ever decided to up the power any more. What do you guys think would be a good one? I'm really curious. Mind you, I'm trying to stay under $600 for the clutch kit. Thanks !!!

Valair 13" conversion with HD organic if you are truly going to be at 350-400HP.

Always plan on a Bigger clutch than what you have now, That way if you decide to upgrade power parts down the road somewhere .. Your covered.:tu:

i ran the sbc 3250 dual disk and loved it. held over 1100 ftlbs on the dyno and wasn't bad to drive

Thanks guys. I wish I could afford the disk disc setup but it's a bit out of my price range. Isn't it a bit grabby as well? I use my truck for towing and hauling quite a bit so I don't really want to fight it too much

they can be grabby .. but they also will last far longer than an organic clutch .. as I said .. Plan for the future, fi you plan to tow at all .. a double is really the way to go

It'll definitely be something for me to consider whenever I may need a clutch again. If I had the money I'd get one now but I think the 13" single will be a decent upgrade for right now. Thanks for the help, much appreciated
