want to bypass high beam safety for starting

I have a 97 Dodge 2500 with a 12 valve with an auto trans... My problem is that my truck was originally sold in CA and it seems that in their "wisdom" that Dodge did what I consider a bad thing... To start my engine, as I turn the key to start, I also have to pull the turn signal lever to the high beam location to start my truck... This does in fact put the high beams on temporarily as you start the engine... Not good as you are draining power away from the starting circuit... I have been to several repair shops who were unaware of this glitch and had the mechanic tell me I had dead batteries as my truck wouldn't start for him... I explained the high beam thing.. all was good... I want to bypass this from the wiring so I can just turn the key and start my motor.. Any help would be appreciated....

In a nutshell, I'm just trying to find out if anyone knows which wires I should clip at the turn signal/high- low beam switch to eliminate it from the circuit...

I Do NOT believe this is factory. All the Factory service manuals show nothing of this sort. And the factory manual will show CA add-ons when in use. Need to trace the wiring harness and look for splices that are not factory. Sounds like something someone added.

It sounds like some previous owner set it up that way as a thief deterrent. You will need to trace the wiring at the ignition switch and the high bead switch and delete the wiring splice that was done
