cummins in gas truck?

What would i need to do or have to drop my 12 valve into another 2500 truck if it was a gas truck? Or what is the easiest and cheapest route to go since i want to take an engine out of my rusty dodge and drop it into a body thats in better shape? Any help is very much appriciated guys

drop it in a chevy, works great and fits better then a dodge. need a body lift, figure out the drivetrain, figure out some of the gauges and run fuel lines, thats real about it. they make mounts to do it or build your own

So they make plates to bolt up to a chevy tranny or would it be easier to just drop the dodge tranny in? And what years range would be good for the cummins?

I like the older bodystyles myself unless i can find a newer body cheap. They just dont make them like they used to.

theres kits, well at least motor mounts/ cross members for both 73-87 and 88-98. the old ones need a 4 inch suspension lift to do it, and the newer ones just need a 2 inch body, or 3 if you want little more room. if your a fabricator type its really not hard to do. hardest part is figuring out the drivetrain. if you want a newer truck its not bad, for standard like myn. just find a 2500 6.5 truck with a nv4500 in it, switch housings to a cummins. get the hydraulics from the cummins and put them in the chev. and then bolt it up. my engine and all that had to move back a bit because it was originally an auto. might be different for already standard trucks. then all you gotta do is hook up some wiring and fuel. etc its not bad.

Does anyone know what tranny is in the 97 2500 ram? I dont know if its the 47rh or 47re? Im having some high rpm and my shift points are way off so im thinking my speed sensor on the harmonic balancer or the tv cable is to blame. Not sure how to adjust the cable

also isnt going into overdrive at all and the truck feels like it falls flat on its face at 70. Cant go past 70mph

A friend had this issue after a lot of head scratching we chances the cpu under the air filter box with the one in my truck. His truck ran like it should. My 96 has the 47 re not sure any of that helps you out
