Dually swap????

How hard is it to swap a single wheel to a dually. Is it bed and the wheels with the different wheel lugs or is it more then that??

Dually axle is narrower than a single wheel. if you change the rear end and use the front hub adapters, switch the bed and wheels you should be good to go.

i just switched from dually to single wheel and my dually axle is 4 inches wider than the single wheel. my truck is a 97 3500 4x4. i built a flatbed for it so it doesnt matter much though.

I sold my front spacers, bed and wheels already. Easy job to switch dually to single wheel. Little more work to do the opposite. Probably need longer rear wheel studs.

check again the dually are narrower than single wheel.

they might be on other years but my 97 is 4 inches wider than my buddies single wheel. i had to get newer oem wheels that were positive offset so the wheels wouldnt stick out so far. what years are you talking about?

My 94 is narrower then a single. We converted mine to single wheel. On my 1/2ton conversion I'm just going to run wheel spacers make it look right

thats good to know. i wouldnt mind swapping someone with a narrower rear so my wheels tuck in a little better. they are only about a inch outside the flatbed right now but it would be nice to have them all the way in there.

DRW pickup is wider (~72")
DRW cab & chassis is supposedly narrower (~68")
SRW pickup (~70" drum style, ~71" disc)

I have the 95 D80 DRW pickup axle, and D80 SRW axles (02 disc and 94 drum) for reference, so I'm not BSing anyone on those. :moon:

To go to DRW, swap the rear end, and put on front hub extensions. However, if you moved up to 19.5" wheels you might be able to clear the SRW brakes.
