High EGTs
 
Hello all, recently just hit 1700 on my pyrometer (briefly) and had two questions. The first was should I be worried about any damage to my engine internally. Second is how do I go about lowering them at WOT. Considering water injection. I've been told both that I have too much fuel and that I have too much air so not sure what to do with the ratio. I've always been led to believe that excessive unburnt fuel acts as a coolant which seemed to hold true in my brief testing, but I could be wrong. Also, any time I talk to Industrial with questions about my turbo they always say I need more fuel. Any help would be appreciated cause I'd rather let the truck sit or take some power away than get it that hot again, whether that temperature is okay or not. Thank you.

Also, my timing is 21 degrees, just thought maybe that pplayed a roll and realized it wasn't in my signature so thought I'd throw that out there

I am hoping your nozzle size is a typo?
I hope they are 7x0.0125 not 7x0.125
Using a SAC nozzle rather than VCO will help reduce egts.
1700 is to high, pure aluminum melts at 1221°F
Try putting a fuel plate in it, like a #100 plate.
Retune the afc to come on to full fuel at 40psi, with a 64/80 you should be able to flow enough to keep it cool, the is of course depending on the aspect ratio of the charger. But I would imagine it is around 1.10?

Yes I apologize for that they are .0125 200 horse SAC nozzles. I got the SAC for that reason. Not sure on the aspect ratio didn't measure that before I put it in. I have the star wheel and pre-boost screw backed off pretty far since it smokes like a mother under the turbo, but I could take the afc off and set it with a regulator to come on later and see if that helps

Honestly, I would try a different nozzle. 6x14s maybe

Because I have ran a lot of different sizes. Going with a real big nozzle is all fine and good, but you can be more efficient with a smaller nozzle and more pump tuning. I switched from 7x.016s to 14s to 6x.018s
Sometimes just matching setups helps out alot

Well to be honest I wasn't looking for one quite that big, but all the literature I read said that more small holes will atomize better than less large holes, which makes sense to me. Not trying to refute your argument or anything I just like to have a pretty good understanding before I go buying parts ya know
