What keep giving problems

lovitt07 09-22-2014 10:18 AM

On the 96 we have replaced valve cover gaskets, vaccum pump seals, timing pin o-rings, rear main seal, cam plate now it looks like I have to replace the injector pump o-ring and front timing cover gasket are we going to have to continue to do this because of the hauling and having to run these engines so hard to climb mountains and run 75mph on the interstate

Its like every time we fix a leak it creates a new one

Keep in mind these are stock trucks not turned up nothing done at all

Blow bye ...

Crank case pressure can be caused by several things ..

#1 .. Most overlooked also ... Turbo seals .. can push pressure into the oil return causing crankcase pressure ..

To Diag, this symptom -

Pull the oil return line . put a short piece of hose on the return from Turbo, place the hose in a 3 gallon bucket .. have someone start engine and build some boost .. it the hose it below the oill and the turbo is the issue .. it will cause a bunch of bubbling, if you just get a little bit of bubbling and lotts of oil .. Blow bye from cylinders is more likley ..

ok will check that shortly i have heard that the 12v needs a second venting system such as valve covers with breathers or a second vent tube? as i said before both trucks have plenty of power i will check the turbo return tonight to make sure.

I would check the turbo's first .. then move on to further venting ... also .. while engine warm ( @ opperating temp ) .. @ idle pull the oil fill cap ... if you see excessive puffing thats pulsating .. it will be cylinder blow-bye ..

checked turbo checked out good i believe the vent tube is stopped up because even with reving the engine it still just barely has any pressure coming out of it

I would pull the oil fill while its running @ temp .. see what you get there .. if its puffing hard its blowbye .. if its just smokin a bit . then its ok .. but what is it pushing out gaskets ?? :humm:
