97 3500 no crank

Yesterday I went out to my truck and went to start it and the starter isn't doing anything. I checked and I am not getting any power on the signal wire at the starter when I turn the key. I can jump the signal wire and it cranks so I know the starter isn't bad. Next I checked the relay and used a good one I had sitting around but I had no luck. I am also not getting any power to the pull wire on the fuel solenoid. At the power distribution box on the relay i get 2 prongs that are keyed power and one that is starter power. The one that is starter power is suppossed to be a ground from what I can tell on wiring diagrams. So this is probably my problem but I can't figure why it is doing this. I am lost, it was working just fine yesterday. I would appreciate any ideas.

trigger wire came undone @ starter ?

Starter relay ?

Starter relay is good I have a good extra one and put that in and didn't change a thing.
Wire is good down to the starter and connected well.
I am stumped I don't understand it was working just fine when I parked it but overnight it decided to stop working.

Start checking fuses.. use an indicator .. or use an ohm meter with the fuse removed .. I find more issues with fuses that anything .. they can come unsoldiered and still look ok.... :bat::dang:

I couldn't find a fuse for the starter. Where would that be located? All I found was the relay but no fuse.

I was thinking maybe see if the trigger wire is getting the signal .. if not your gonna need a Wiring Diagram and your gonna need to trace it down .. :humm:

There is a fuse it got me on my conversion. It's in the panel under the hood

Well I looked everywhere for the problem and could not find it. In order to save time and headaches I just installed a push button for the starter/ fuel solenoid and put it in a semi-hidden area. This gives the truck a little added security. It is just a simple fix but if it works then I have no problem with it.

That works . for now .. :yeah:
