Weird knocking noise

I took my 97 12 cummins to fuel station. I left it running and I pop the cap got to about 15 bucks it shut off on me. I tried starting it. Wouldn't run then I got it home I was priming it and bleeding my injectors. I crank and cranked on in. I bleed it some more then I cranked it over then I tried again I got a weird noise. Sound like my starter wasnt going out far enough but it is cause my fans spinning. Is it possible it got air locked and broke my crank or connecting rod to a piston??? 😢

Sounds like your Fuel shut off solenoid is faulty .. :tu:

As previously asked, where is the noise coming from? If it is at the starter, then check the items I mentioned to make sure it is able to engage properly. If it is not at the starter and you think it is internal. Stop now and get another opinion, before you do major damage.

X2 for the shut-off solenoid.

Faulty fuel shut off may prevent the start, but it is not going to give him strange noises. I am more concerned with the noise than the no start. If something is damaged and he continues to try and start it, I do not want to see him doing more damage.

well the knocking noise can be Lift Pump .. non fatal if it goes .. a rod ... but thats not likley ...

Might just try to pull the feed line to IP from LP and see if its pumping while its spinning over .. just to check .. :humm:

4x4 I just read his update on his other post, looks like the started did take a crap on him. I wonder if this was the root of all his issues. No start and noise. Hopefully he updates and lets us know.

Thanks for the help and yea the starter did go up. What's the best way to prime it again

Fill fuel filter with ATF , then pump the LIft pump and have some one turning engine over with new starter ... pump for a few seconds first till it gets kinda hard to pump .. :tu:, Then start turning engine over to attempt to start ... :rocking:
